This role involves interpreting design blueprints, creating CNC programs, setting up and operating machines, and maintaining quality and safety standards. The CNC Programmer/Operator collaborates closely with the design and fabrication teams to produce components accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities and Duties

Interpret Design Team Drawings. Read and interpret design drawings and 3D models and propose a plan for making the required components.

Model components with Fusion 360. Create clean and complete 3D CAD models of suggested designs with Fusion 360.

Create CNC Programs. Develop CNC programs for the machine to produce the required parts.

Set Up Machines. Set up CNC machines with the correct materials and tools

Operate CNC Machines. Operate CNC machines to produce parts, ensuring the machine is running correctly and safely.

Quality Control. Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet design specifications and quality standards.

Troubleshoot Machine Issues. Detect and troubleshoot machine malfunctions or problems, making necessary adjustments or repairs.

Perform Regular Machine Maintenance. Maintain the machine and tooling to maximize their lifespan.

Maintain Safety and Cleanliness. Adhere to safety protocols and keep the work area clean and organized.

Work Environment

A CNC Programmer/Operator typically works in the fabrication shop within the exhibit design firm. The role often requires a standard 9-to-5 schedule, but may sometimes require additional hours to meet project deadlines. The work is often physical, involving tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods. Safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, or ear protection, is required when operating machines. Depending on the specific project, there may be opportunities for on-site work during the installation of exhibits.
